Feasant privacy policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

In short

  • Feasant has no accounts. Your budget is stored on your iPhone, and we never receive it.
  • There are no ads, analytics or tracking, and we don't sell or share personal information.
  • To check for app updates, Feasant contacts our update provider, Expo. That check includes technical details such as your IP address and the app version, never anything from your budget.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to help you.

This policy explains how MD Product Ventures, LLC ("we", "us") handles information in the Feasant app for iPhone. This website has its own short website privacy notice.

Your budget stays on your iPhone

Everything you enter or import into Feasant is stored in Feasant's private storage on your iPhone. That includes accounts, balances, transactions, payees, categories, targets, goals, notes, schedules and settings. Feasant has no sign-in, no sync and no server that holds your budget. We can't see it, and we can't recover it for you, so keep a backup (see Files you export or back up).

Feasant doesn't link to banks or ask for bank logins. When you import a CSV file, Feasant reads it on your phone and then discards its copy of the file.

Encryption

Feasant is built to encrypt your budget database with SQLCipher and to keep the key in the iOS Keychain. Settings › Privacy & security shows whether your budget is encrypted on your phone, and Feasant says it's encrypted only after checking that it is.

The demo

The demo is a fictional household that comes with the app. It's stored separately from your own budget, it isn't encrypted, and it isn't meant for real information.

Backups made by iOS

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, iOS can include Feasant's data in that backup so it comes back on a new phone. Those backups are handled by Apple, or stored on your computer, under their terms rather than ours.

Files you export or back up

Feasant creates files only when you ask it to:

  • CSV and JSON exports are not encrypted. Keep them private.
  • .feasant backups are encrypted with a passphrase you choose (AES-256-GCM). We don't know your passphrase, and nobody, including us, can open the backup without it.

You decide where these files go (for example Files, iCloud Drive or email) through the iOS share sheet. Once saved there, they're covered by that service's terms. Feasant deletes its temporary copy after handing the file over.

Permissions

  • Face ID or passcode, if you turn on App Lock. iOS performs the check. Feasant only learns whether it succeeded and never receives your face data.
  • Notifications, if you turn on reminders for bills and income. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, and no server sends them. They leave out amounts unless you choose to include them.
  • Files. Feasant sees only a file you pick to import or restore.

Feasant doesn't ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data, and it doesn't use the advertising identifier.

What leaves your phone

Only the following. None of it includes anything from your budget.

App updates, through Expo

Feasant can receive small updates without a new App Store download. When the app opens, it checks for one with Expo, the service we use to deliver updates (operated by 650 Industries, Inc.). The check sends your IP address, your device's platform, the app's version and update channel, and a random identifier that the update system creates on your phone. That identifier isn't linked to your name, your Apple Account or your budget.

Expo uses this to deliver the right update and gives us aggregate figures such as how many installs are on each version. See Expo's privacy policy.

Apple

Apple handles App Store downloads and purchases. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers (iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple shares crash reports and aggregated usage statistics with us. Apple's privacy policy applies.

Pages you open from Feasant

Feasant's Settings links to this privacy policy and to Feasant support. They open in a browser inside the app and load from this website like any web page, as described in our website privacy notice. Feasant doesn't send anything about you or your budget with them.

Messages you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to reply and to fix problems you report, based on our legitimate interest in answering you.

Feasant contains no analytics or advertising code. It doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't sell, rent or share your personal information.

How long information is kept

  • Your budget stays on your phone until you delete it. We never have a copy.
  • Update checks are kept by Expo under its policy. We see only aggregate figures.
  • Support email is kept only as long as we need it to help you and to keep a record of what was fixed. We'll delete it sooner if you ask.

Deleting your data

  • In Feasant, go to Settings › Privacy & security and choose Delete my budget from this phone. This permanently deletes your budget, its encryption key and every record from the phone.
  • Deleting the app also removes your budget from your phone.
  • Backups and exports you saved elsewhere aren't affected. Delete them where you saved them.
  • To have emails you've sent us deleted, write to support@mdproductventures.com.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we don't hold your budget, in practice that means emails you've sent us. Depending on where you live, for example California, the EU or the UK, these are legal rights. We honor them for everyone, and we won't treat you differently for using them.

We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms. Because we don't track you, browser "Do Not Track" signals don't change anything here. If you're in the EU or UK and aren't satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Feasant isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Feasant handles information, for example if a future version adds optional bank connections, sync or in-app purchases, we'll update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top.
